Your dog’s ears are their own unique radar that can alert them to an unfamiliar knock at the door or that distinct sound of the jingle of a set of keys that signals our arrival home.
As dog owners we know the acute sense of awareness our dogs hearing has on their body language. Eighteen muscles in their ears enables them to rotate and tilt their ears independently. Who hasn’t seen their dog’s ears twitch, sometimes simultaneously yet in different directions; or go from a dead sleep to up on all fours because it’s apparent they heard something?
Our dog’s hearing enables them to always be ‘at the ready’ to protect us from what is heard and yet unseen.
