xhtml – code for nerd (not really)
I’m a self proclaimed nerd. I love all things computer related.
Of all the things I thought I would NEVER do in my life, writing code was near the top of the list. I didn’t think I was smart enough and figured I would not understand it. I was very wrong.
I had the opportunity to learn code when a company I worked for at the time needed a website. I learn by doing – so this was an excellent scenario in which to acquire this knowlege – I built the company website as I worked my way through the classes.
When I started my blog, my coding skills again came in handy. I love making changes to the code and it’s gratifying to have this kind of control over the design of my website.
I enrolled in online code classes through the ed2go program at my community college. Each course is six weeks long; you log in and complete 2 lessons a week. At the end of the course, there is an exam, that when passed, produces a printable certificate of completion. I did all my classes in the evenings and on weekends. Since it is online, you can log in, study and learn when it fits into your schedule.
I strongly recommend to anyone that has a website/blog to learn to code. You won’t regret it. You will thoroughly enjoy your new found skills.
